“Castro” or “Castro Beats”

Born July 9, in Yonkers, NY. Born in the Y.O. just a hop, skip and a jump from The BX, Castro grew up listening to “The Bodyguard” soundtrack which is father would play in the car whenever he ran errands with him. However, his influences from the hip hop world are vast. Yet he credits “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio as the track that hooked him and convinced him that Hip Hop was his destiny.

After moving from Yonkers to Washingtonville, NY, from the time he was in Middle School he wore his headphones daily listening to the sounds of Hip Hop greats such as: Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Q-Tip, Easy Mo Bee, Clark Kent, RZA. Castro’s music is also influenced by the great R&B stars of the 70’s and 80’s Billy Joel, Bob James, Barry White, Curtis Mayfield and specifically Marvin Gaye whose “Trouble Man” soundtrack he credits with contributing to the shaping of his musical style.

Castro has accomplished quite a bit very early in his career with a variety of credits including placements with Stack Bundles of the Rockaway Riot Squad, JR Writer of The Diplomats and HyDra Management Artists: AbbSaLoot and Short Fuze. He has also worked as a sound engineer at a recording studio and is highly computer literate and proficient with a variety of equipment: Pro Tools, Q Base, MPC’s and a variety of sound modules and mixers.

Castro is tearing up the New York producer competition scene with his hard hitting Hip Hop and R&B tracks. His goal is to transcend music and create soundscapes for artists that will build them into key players in the hip hop industry. Castro notes that “Producers such as Dr. Dre and Timbaland changed the face of music on more than one occasion. He too is destined to make his mark on the Hip Hop landscape by bringing back the hard core ruggedness to take a bite out of the mass commercialism that has prevailed.
